David Guetta

When you think of nightclub disc jockeys, there aren't many names that really come to mind. The sad truth is, not many famous disc jockeys have risen above the ranks of local fame or beyond the small night clubs where they start. However, there are a few exceptions. One of those exceptions is David Guetta.

David Guetta started his career as a disc jockey (DJ) at local night clubs during the 80s and 90s. It was during the 2000s, after co-founding Gum Productions and used his own label to release his record "Just a Little More Love" did he rise to fame. Since that fateful day David Guetta has sold fifteen million singles and three million albums worldwide and has become one of the world's highly demanded music producers.

David Guetta began working as a DJ at a Paris club called Broad Club at the age of 17. When he first began his career he stuck to playing songs that were popular at the time. This changed when he listened to Farley master Funk on French radio in the late '80s. This changed his perspective on music, and he starting hosting club nights of his own. In 1990, he launched a hip hop album in collaboration with a French rapper named Sidney Duteil called "Nation Rap."

In the Mid 90s, Guetta played in several nightclubs around France. In 1994 he released a single called "Up& Away" that achieved some success at the club level. During the same year, he started his tenure as the manager of Le Palace night club. As the manager there, he would organize parties, like the "scream" party in Les Bains Douches.

In 2001, he and Joachim Garraud both founded Gum Productions. The same year, through his new label, he released the song "Just a Little More Love," which included Chris Willis. The two met by chance while Willis was on a vacation in France. The single was a hit, and it began his rise to stardom.

Virgin records released Guetta's first album, Just a Little More Love, and it sold close to 300,000 copies. All of the way until 2006, Guetta would continue to have moderate success, releasing a compilation album titled Fuck me I'm Famouse, and several more singles.

In 2007, Guetta released a third album called Pop Life. The album was more successful than his previous two, and according to statistics, it sold 530,000 copies worldwide. A single that was cut from his album, "Love is Gone," hit number one on the American Dance charts. Starting in 2008, Guetta toured around the world, playing at many major events. In 2009 he continued to gain fame and received many accolades for his music. For example in a 2009 pole by DJ Magazine, he placed #3 on the "Top 100 DJs." At the DJ awards in that took place in 2008, he was elected "Best House DJ."

Guetta released his fourth album in August of 2009 called One Love. Since it was released, it has sold over three million copies and contains his #1 Uk Hit "sexy bitch". It is assumed that David will continue his rise to fame, and will be remembered as one of the most influential DJs of all time.
