Paul Van Dyck

Paul van Dyk is also known as Matthias Paul. He is a German Grammy Award winner through electronic dance music. Paul van Dyk is also known as a DJ and record producer. He was one of the first people to become nominated in the Grammys for the Best Electronic/Dance album category. One of his best accomplishments was he was named the world's number 1 DJ in 2005 and 2006.

Born in East Berlin, Paul van Dyk grew up with only his mother raising him. He was trained to be a carpenter, and also as a broadcast technician. Paul van Dyk states that his education in music came strictly from radio. His first showing as a DJ was in the city of Tresore in 1991. After he performed there he had been given many more dates and an opportunity to DJ in Juergen Kramer's Dubmission parties. From here his style caught the interest of Cosmic Baby. He had many performances with the DJ known as Kid Paul. In 1994 Paul Van Dyk released Pump This Party EP, The Green Valley EP and Emergency 911 EP. In 1997 he began working with a United States music producer known as BT. They made many tracks including "Words" and "Seven Ways". He was also known to release a track called "Age of Love" in 1997. There were many tracks released between the years 1998 to 2007 from Global, Tell Me Why, The Politics of Dancing, Nothing but You, and The other side. The other side showcased Wayne Jackson and was dedicated to victims of the Sumatra earthquake.

2007 to present day

Paul van Dyk then released his 5th album called "In Between" on August 14, 2007. This album took over 3 years to complete and debuted at #115 on the Billboard 200 Electronic Album list. The album had a wide range of artists on it such as Jessica Sutta from the Pussycat Dolls. On New Years Eve of 2008, Paul was invited to play in Barra Beach, Rio de Janeiro which hosted over 1 million people. He also helped to release music for EA Games on Grand Slam, and the theme for The Dark Knight. Some of Paul's remixes can be found on Britney Spears song "Gimme More" and also on Justin Timberlake's "what goes around".

Paul van Dyk is very outspoken in his opposition of the Iraq and Afghanistan war. He participated in many anti war gigs in New York as well as wearing a shirt indicating his disfavor for war. He helped in the fight poverty campaign as well as many plans to help disadvantaged people in New York, India and Berlin. In all Paul van Dyk has 6 Studio Released album, and 22 Remix albums. Paul's music can be found on 4 soundtracks and 5 video games. He has won numerous awards and has been showcased many times in the DJ Magazine. Paul van Dyk is a great DJ who will be remembered for his many works.
